A music player, karaoke application, or lyrics display may require LRC when the available timed lyrics are stored as TTML captions. Converting the file preserves line timing in a smaller, simpler format that is widely supported by audio players.

What the TTML format is

TTML (Timed Text Markup Language), commonly saved with a .ttml or .xml extension, is an XML format for timed captions and subtitles. It can store text, start and end times, regions, styling, language information, speaker data, and nested word-level timing.

You may encounter TTML in broadcast-captioning workflows, streaming-platform exports, web video systems, and subtitle applications such as Subtitle Edit. A TTML document usually places caption lines inside <p> elements with attributes such as begin and end.

What the LRC format is

LRC is a plain-text lyrics format used by music players, karaoke software, and some car or mobile audio systems. A basic line contains a timestamp followed by lyrics:

LRC can also contain metadata tags such as [ar:Artist], [ti:Title], and [by:Creator]. Its small size, UTF-8 text compatibility, and simple line-based structure make it easier to edit than XML-based caption formats.

How to convert TTML to LRC

1. Open the TTML file in the converter on 101convert.com.
2. Select LRC as the output format.
3. Start the conversion and download the generated .lrc file when processing finishes. The service can be used without installing desktop software.
4. Open the result in a plain-text editor and verify that each lyric line has an LRC timestamp in the form [mm:ss.xx].
5. Give the LRC file the same base filename as the audio file; for example, use song.mp3 and song.lrc in the same folder. Many players use this naming convention to load lyrics automatically.

For manual editing, use a subtitle or text editor that can open XML and plain text. Remove caption-only information such as speaker labels or sound-effect descriptions if the result is intended for lyrics display, then adjust timestamps against the audio.

Quality and compatibility limits

TTML can define separate start and end times, while basic LRC normally records only the start time of each line. The conversion therefore retains line entry timing but cannot fully represent caption duration, positioning, styling, regions, or accessibility metadata.

Word-level TTML timing may be reduced to line-level LRC. Some players support enhanced LRC with additional word timestamps, but support is inconsistent, so standard line timestamps provide the broadest compatibility.

TTML time expressions can use hours, milliseconds, frames, or clock-time syntax; frame-based timing requires the source frame rate to calculate accurate LRC timestamps. LRC commonly uses hundredths of a second, so finer TTML precision is rounded. Check offsets manually if lyrics appear consistently early or late.

Preserve non-Latin lyrics as UTF-8 and test the file in the target player. LRC has no universal standard for metadata, punctuation, line wrapping, or character encoding, and different players may interpret these details differently.
