Convert LQM to PDF

What the LQM format is

.lqm is the proprietary file extension used by LG QuickMemo and QuickMemo+ on some LG Android phones. An LQM file can contain typed text, handwriting, drawings, annotations, images, timestamps, and other memo metadata. Many LQM files are ZIP-based containers that include a memoinfo.jlqm JSON file and separate media files, but the internal structure varies between LG models and application versions.

LQM is not a standard document format, and changing its extension does not convert it. Most general-purpose desktop and online converters cannot interpret its layout, drawing layers, or metadata.

What the PDF format is

PDF stores a document’s page appearance in a format supported by operating systems, browsers, print services, and document-management software. It is suitable for sharing and archiving QuickMemo notes because the recipient does not need an LG phone or QuickMemo+. A PDF made from actual text can remain searchable; a PDF made from a screenshot or rendered image cannot.

Convert the note on an LG phone

Use the original phone, or an LG phone running a compatible QuickMemo+ version, whenever possible. Keep an untouched copy of the LQM file before attempting recovery.

1. Copy or restore the LQM file through the method supported by that phone and QuickMemo+ version. Some releases restore only their own backup format and cannot import an arbitrary LQM file.
2. Open the memo in QuickMemo+ or QMemo+.
3. Choose Share, Export, or Print. If a PDF option is available, select it and save the file.
4. If the application opens Android’s print screen, choose Save as PDF, set the paper size and orientation, and save the result.

Exporting or printing from QuickMemo+ usually preserves the visible text, handwriting, drawings, images, and page arrangement better than archive extraction. Menu names and import support differ by LG model and Android version; QuickMemo+ may also be unavailable on newer non-LG devices.

Extract an LQM on a computer

Use this recovery method when the original application cannot open the note. It exposes stored components but does not itself create a PDF.

1. Make a working copy, such as memo-copy.lqm, and leave the original unchanged.
2. Open the copy with 7-Zip, WinZip, or another archive utility. If the utility does not recognize it, rename the copy to memo-copy.zip and try again.
3. Extract the archive. Inspect memoinfo.jlqm with a text editor that supports JSON and identify any text fields, including fields such as DescRaw when present. Open image files separately and preserve their original order and dimensions.
4. Reconstruct the note in LibreOffice Writer, LibreOffice Draw, or Microsoft Word. Insert recovered images, copy recovered text, and manually approximate page size, positioning, handwriting, and annotations.
5. Choose File → Export as PDF in LibreOffice, or File → Save as and select PDF in Word. On Windows, File → Print → Microsoft Print to PDF is another option.

JSON metadata is not necessarily a complete representation of the rendered memo. Extraction can omit drawing layers, text formatting, backgrounds, page boundaries, timestamps, or relationships between media and annotations. If only text is needed, copying the recovered text into a document is usually sufficient; preserving the original appearance requires the source application or manual reconstruction.

Online converters and compatibility limits

There is no broadly dependable online service that natively parses every LQM variant. Do not upload private notes to a generic converter merely because it accepts a renamed ZIP file. Use an online PDF service such as PDF24 Tools or Adobe Acrobat online only after you have converted the recovered content to a supported input such as DOCX, PNG, or JPG, and only when the note’s privacy requirements permit uploading it.

• Different LG phones and QuickMemo+ releases can produce incompatible internal structures.
• A damaged, encrypted, or incomplete backup cannot be repaired by renaming the extension. Recover the complete backup or reopen the memo on the source phone.
• Compare the PDF with the original note, especially handwriting, page breaks, image placement, and non-Latin text.
• For long-term archiving, keep the original .lqm file together with the PDF because the PDF may be a visual reconstruction rather than a complete export of the memo’s data.
