Convert LQM to DOC

Users usually need this conversion when an LG QuickMemo note must be edited in Microsoft Word or delivered to an older system that accepts only .doc. Because QuickMemo stores notes in a proprietary archive, the memo normally has to be opened or extracted before it can be saved as a Word document.

What the LQM format is

.lqm is used by LG QuickMemo and QuickMemo+ on some LG Android devices. An LQM file can contain typed text, handwriting, drawings, screenshots, images, attachments, and QuickMemo-specific metadata. It is usually encountered after exporting or backing up notes from an LG phone.

LQM is not a standard word-processing format. Many versions use a ZIP-based container, but the internal files, names, and structure vary by QuickMemo version; changing the extension to .zip does not itself convert the note.

What the DOC format is

.doc is Microsoft Word's older binary document format. It supports editable text, paragraph formatting, tables, and inserted images and remains useful for older Word installations and document systems that reject .docx.

Use .docx when compatibility with modern Word is not a requirement. DOC conversion can discard QuickMemo layout, timestamps, handwriting data, and unsupported attachments.

How to convert an LQM file

Restore and export with QuickMemo+

1. Make a backup copy of the original .lqm file.
2. Copy the file to an LG device that has a compatible version of QuickMemo or QuickMemo+. Compatibility depends on the phone model and app version.
3. In QuickMemo+, use its import, backup, or restore command to load the memo. The exact menu names differ between versions.
4. Open the note and use the available Share, Export, or equivalent command. Choose text output for typed content, or PDF/image output when the note contains handwriting or drawings.
5. Open the exported text or PDF in Microsoft Word. Word can attempt PDF conversion through File → Open; image-only content requires OCR or manual transcription.
6. Save the result with File → Save As, choose Word 97–2003 Document (*.doc), and save the file.

Extract the archive without an LG device

1. Copy the file and rename only the copy, for example from memo.lqm to memo.zip. Keep the original unchanged.
2. Open the renamed copy with 7-Zip, WinRAR, or another ZIP-compatible utility. If it opens, extract all contents to a new folder.
3. Look for readable text, XML, HTML, PDFs, and image files. Do not assume that an XML or image file represents the complete note; QuickMemo versions store content differently.
4. Open recovered text in Word, or add recovered images through Insert → Pictures. Use OCR for printed text in screenshots; handwriting and drawings generally need manual transcription or must remain images.
5. Save the assembled document as Word 97–2003 Document (*.doc). Microsoft Word, LibreOffice Writer, and Apache OpenOffice can create this legacy format, although complex formatting may differ between applications.

There is no broadly compatible desktop converter that reliably turns every LQM variant directly into DOC. General online converters commonly do not accept LQM. A reputable online service can be used only after the memo has been extracted to a supported format such as PDF or text, and only when the service explicitly supports the required input and output. Do not upload confidential notes, credentials, personal records, or unverified backups.

Quality and compatibility limits

Typed text has the best chance of becoming editable Word content. Handwriting, freehand drawings, and screenshots are normally preserved as raster images; OCR may produce errors, especially with cursive writing, low-resolution images, or text embedded in drawings.

Attachments may be separate files inside the archive and may not appear in a text export. Check the extracted folders and compare the converted document with the original memo before deleting anything. Retain the original .lqm file because DOC cannot preserve all QuickMemo metadata, note layers, layout, timestamps, or embedded content.
