Convert APK to TKP

A program may request a .tkp file when the available file is an Android app installer with an .apk extension. These are not interchangeable packages, so renaming or archive conversion will not create a usable target file.

APK format

An APK is the installable package format for Android applications. It is a ZIP-based container that can include compiled Dalvik/ART code in classes.dex, the app manifest, resources, assets, native libraries, and signing data.

Android developers commonly generate APKs with Android Studio and Gradle for testing, direct distribution, enterprise deployment, or installation outside an app store. Google Play commonly distributes Android App Bundles internally, then delivers device-specific APKs to devices.

To inspect an APK without changing it, use Android Studio's Build → Analyze APK or open it with 7-Zip. For resource decoding during authorized development or analysis, use apktool d app.apk -o app_decoded.

TKP format

.tkp is not one recognized, universal application-package format. Different products can use the extension for unrelated proprietary project files, theme packages, configuration data, or other application-specific content. Its structure, required metadata, compression, and signatures are defined by the program that creates and imports it.

A TKP file has no general advantage over an APK. Any benefit, such as packaging theme assets or product settings in one file, applies only within the software that defines that particular TKP variant.

If the intended format is .tpk, not .tkp, it may refer to a Tizen application package. Tizen packages are built with Tizen tooling for the Tizen platform; an Android APK cannot be converted into a functional Tizen app package because the platforms use different application models, APIs, manifests, binaries, and signing processes.

What can actually be done

1. Identify the exact application, device, game, theme manager, or service that requests the .tkp file. Confirm the extension carefully; .tkp and .tpk are different extensions.
2. Consult that product's documentation for supported import formats and its native export or packaging feature, usually found under File → Export, File → Save As, or a dedicated publishing command.
3. If the vendor supplies a TKP editor, SDK, template, or packager, create the file from the source material it accepts. That input may be images, audio, configuration files, project files, or source code, rather than an APK.
4. If the required content is contained in an APK, inspect the APK locally and extract only assets that the target software explicitly accepts. Do not assume extracted Android resources, XML files, or native libraries are valid TKP inputs.

There is no general desktop or online APK-to-TKP converter. Android Studio, 7-Zip, and Apktool can inspect or extract an APK, but none creates an unknown proprietary TKP structure. Do not upload APKs to websites claiming to perform this conversion: APKs may expose proprietary code, embedded endpoints, certificates, and copyrighted assets, while such a service cannot reliably determine the required target format.

Compatibility and signing limits

Changing an APK's extension to .tkp does not change its contents. Creating a new archive from APK files also does not supply the destination application's required manifest, metadata, layout, encryption, or signature.

Merely copying an APK does not affect its signature, but modifying and repackaging its contents invalidates its existing signature. A modified APK must be rebuilt and signed before Android can install it, and it normally cannot update the original app unless it is signed with the same signing key.

For a Tizen .tpk target, port the original app source code with the relevant Tizen SDK and APIs, then build and sign it using the vendor's documented tooling. If only an APK is available, obtain the original source or an official version for the target platform; reverse-engineering an APK does not provide a reliable or generally permitted path to a portable application.
