Convert ABW to DOCM

Unfortunately, ABW documents can be only opened and saved in the original software - AbiWord and there is no alternative to this. If you want, you can save .abw files to several formats supported in AbiWord, including documents from MS Word. We do not know about any 3rd party converter or even some other word processor that can work with .abw files, so using the original tool is probably the only option.
