What the WPD format is

How to convert a WPD file to DOCX

Using WordPerfect

1. Open the .wpd file in Corel WordPerfect.
2. Check the document's pagination, tables, graphics, headers, footers, and fields before exporting.
3. Choose File → Save As.
4. Select the Microsoft Word DOCX option, such as Word 2007–365 (*.docx). The exact label depends on the WordPerfect version.
5. Save the file, then open the resulting .docx in Microsoft Word or LibreOffice Writer and verify it.

Using LibreOffice Writer

LibreOffice is a practical desktop option when WordPerfect is unavailable, but its WPD import filter may handle complex or old documents differently from WordPerfect.
