The MEPX file does not contain the actual video or audio data, but rather the structure and settings of the project.

MEP is a project file format used by Movavi Video Editor in its earlier versions. Like MEPX, it contains project data, but the format is different and is not directly compatible with newer versions of the software.

Why convert MEPX to MEP?

Converting MEPX to MEP may be necessary if you need to open a project created in a newer version of Movavi Video Editor (which uses MEPX) in an older version that only supports MEP files.

How to convert MEPX to MEP

There is no direct converter or official tool to convert MEPX files to MEP format, as these formats are designed for different versions of Movavi Video Editor. However, you can try the following workaround:

1. Open your MEPX project in the latest version of Movavi Video Editor.
2. Export your project as a video file by going to File → Export → Video.
3. Install the older version of Movavi Video Editor that supports MEP files.
4. Import the exported video into the older Movavi Video Editor and save the project as an MEP file.

Note: This method will not preserve the project structure (timeline, effects, etc.), but only the final video. There is currently no way to convert MEPX to MEP while retaining full editability.
