We don’t have a dedicated online converter for MP3 to XKR yet, but you can convert MP3 files online to these and more formats:

How to convert mp3 to xkr file

  • Audio

Sing-Magic Karaoke uses .xkr song files, so an MP3 must be imported into Sing-Magic software when you want to play it there as a karaoke song. The conversion may also require lyrics and timing data because an MP3 contains audio only.

What the MP3 format is

MP3 is a lossy MPEG audio format that reduces file size by removing sound details judged less audible. It is used for music, podcasts, voice recordings, car stereos, phones, media players, CD rips, and audio projects.

MP3 files can be produced by applications such as Audacity, Adobe Audition, Apple Music, digital audio workstations, CD-ripping tools, LAME, and ffmpeg. The format is widely supported, but decoding and re-encoding it repeatedly can reduce quality.

What the XKR format is

.xkr is the proprietary Sing-Magic Karaoke Song format, not a general-purpose audio format like MP3, WAV, or FLAC. An XKR file is intended for the Sing-Magic Karaoke ecosystem and can package the song audio with karaoke information such as lyrics and timing, depending on the software version and file type.

Its advantage is application-specific karaoke playback: Sing-Magic can use the packaged song data instead of treating the file as ordinary audio. XKR is not a replacement for MP3 for general playback, and generic audio editors or converters cannot create valid Sing-Magic song files.

How to convert MP3 to XKR

  1. Install the official Sing-Magic Karaoke software or its song-creation utility. Use the version supported by the Sing-Magic player or device that will open the result.
  2. Open the song-creation or import function and select the source MP3. Menu names differ between releases; look for an option such as File → Import, Create song, or Add audio.
  3. Enter the song title and any required artist or category information. If the utility supports lyrics, add the lyrics and synchronize them with the audio; an MP3 does not contain this karaoke data.
  4. Preview the timing and audio, then use the program's documented save, build, or export command and choose .xkr if offered. Save the file to a local folder and test it in the target Sing-Magic player.

The exact Sing-Magic application is the conversion tool because XKR is proprietary. Audacity cannot export XKR; it is useful only for trimming, normalizing, or preparing the audio before importing it into Sing-Magic.

When the MP3 is rejected

Some song-creation utilities accept only uncompressed PCM audio or impose limits on sample rate, channels, duration, or filename characters. Convert the MP3 to WAV without adding another lossy encoding step:

ffmpeg -i input.mp3 -c:a pcm_s16le output.wav

Import output.wav into Sing-Magic and create the XKR file there. This command decodes the MP3; it cannot generate XKR by itself and cannot restore quality already discarded by MP3 encoding.

Online conversion and compatibility limits

No general online MP3 converter can reliably produce a valid Sing-Magic XKR file. Use an online service only if its documentation explicitly supports Sing-Magic XKR and the required lyrics or timing workflow; otherwise it may return a file that Sing-Magic cannot open. Do not upload private recordings to an unverified service.

Keep the original MP3 and any original lossless recording. Converting to WAV or embedding the audio in XKR does not improve MP3 quality. If the result fails in the player, check the Sing-Magic version, required song package structure, audio limits, metadata fields, and lyric timing before recreating the file.
