It seems that ass to stl conversion is used for the purpose of export between Advanced SubStation Alpha subtitles (.ass) subtitles and older Win2020 screen subtitle format (.stl). For this you will have to use some dedicated subtitle editor or converter, but the support for .stl subtitles is pretty low..
