You should absolutely be able to convert WAVE Audio Files directly to KONTAKT Instrument Files (.wav to .nki conversion), and thus generating NKI instrument samples.
KONTAKT, the original software, should allow users to generate NKI instrument files out of imported WAV audio files. Alternatively, try using Translator 7, which also claims to be able to convert WAV to NKI.
