Common srt subtitles might be converted to their Microsoft SAMI counterpart (.smi) with programs like URUworks Subtitle Workshop. Nonetheless SAMI subtitles are not that well-supported in modern media players, so unless you need it for some specific reasons, you should stick to the common formats.
