How to convert sat to dwg file

Sat to dwg file conversion

AutoCAD can work with ACIS SAT files, so it is one of the most common tools for SAT to DWG conversion. In practice, you usually open or import the .sat file and then save or export it as .dwg. The exact result depends on the SAT content and the CAD version you use.

Important: .sat is an ACIS text-based solid/surface model format, while .dwg is AutoCAD’s native drawing format for 2D and 3D data. A conversion may preserve solid geometry, but in some workflows the result can be a different representation or lose some modeling details.

If you are using AutoCAD, the typical workflow is File → Open or Insert → Import for the SAT file, followed by File → Save As or File → Export to DWG, depending on the version and file type support. Not every AutoCAD edition supports every import/export path, so check the available commands in your version.

If you do not have AutoCAD, use CAD software that can import ACIS SAT and export DWG. Some alternatives may support direct conversion, while others may require an intermediate format. If DWG export is unavailable, a dedicated CAD converter or a different CAD application may be needed.

Tip: Before converting, confirm that the SAT file is valid ACIS geometry and choose a DWG version that your target software can open. Older and newer DWG versions can affect compatibility.
