How to convert ODP to PNG

The best method depends on whether you want one PNG per slide or a single image from a specific slide. In most cases, converting ODP to PNG means exporting each slide as an image.

1. Open the ODP file in LibreOffice Impress.
2. To export slides as images, use File → Export As or File → Export, depending on your LibreOffice version.
3. If the export dialog offers image output, choose PNG as the format.
4. If you need all slides as images, use the presentation’s image export option if available, or export the file to PDF first and then render each PDF page to PNG.
5. Select the destination folder, set the desired resolution if prompted, and confirm the export.

If your office suite does not provide direct PNG export for presentations, a reliable desktop workflow is to convert the presentation to PDF first, then render the PDF pages to PNG with a local tool such as pdftoppm or magick. Quality and limitations

PNG is a raster format, so the conversion is not editable like the original ODP. Text, shapes, and charts become pixels, which means they cannot be changed as presentation objects after conversion. For best results, export at a sufficiently high resolution so slide text remains sharp.

If the presentation contains animations, transitions, embedded video, or interactive elements, these will not be preserved in PNG. Also, if the ODP uses fonts that are not installed on the conversion system, text layout may shift slightly. Complex slides with transparency or gradients usually convert well, but very detailed slides may produce large PNG files.

When converting a multi-slide ODP, remember that PNG output is typically one image per slide, not a single combined file. If you need a single image, you must stitch the slides together manually after export.
