Convert QRP to TXT

Convert application-specific QRP reports to readable TXT without losing track of format limits.

We can't read QRP files yet, so this conversion isn't available. If you can export your work to one of these formats - or others - we'll turn it into TXT:

How to convert qrp to txt file

A program that accepts only plain text, a data-import workflow, or a text editor may require a QRP report in TXT form. The correct conversion depends on the application that created the QRP file, because QRP is primarily associated with QuickReport and is not a single universal format.

What the QRP format is

QRP most commonly identifies a QuickReport file, generated by applications built with Delphi or C++Builder and the QuickReport reporting component. It may contain report data or a saved report output rather than an ordinary editable document. Some legacy software may use the extension for other data types, so the filename alone cannot establish the format.

Check the source of the file, its associated application, and any documentation from the sender. A QRP file opened directly in a text editor may display binary data or unreadable characters; renaming report.qrp to report.txt changes only the extension and does not perform a conversion.

What the TXT format is

TXT contains character data without fonts, formulas, charts, images, macros, merged cells, or page layout. It can be opened by Notepad, code editors, command-line tools, databases, and import utilities, and it remains readable without the application that created the source file.

Plain text cannot preserve a report's visual layout reliably. If the destination needs structured records, use tab-separated or comma-separated text and select UTF-8 when available. CSV is often a better interchange format than visually aligned TXT because delimiters preserve fields more consistently.

How to convert a QuickReport QRP file

  1. Identify the Delphi, C++Builder, or business application that generated the file. Use that application, its compatible report viewer, or an exporter supplied by the software vendor.
  2. Open the QRP file in the application or viewer. Do not edit or resave the only copy.
  3. Use the program's report export command, commonly found under File → Export, Report → Export, or a similar menu. Select ASCII, plain text, CSV, or another text output supported by the program.
  4. Choose UTF-8 if the exporter offers an encoding setting. If the receiving program requires a filename ending in .txt, save the plain-text output with that extension; do not merely rename the QRP file.
  5. Open the result in a text editor and verify accented characters, non-Latin text, line breaks, column order, dates, decimal separators, and repeated page headers.

Some QuickReport applications provide only a preview or print function. Export the report to PDF and extract text only when the PDF route is the available option; OCR is needed for scanned or image-only output and can introduce character and column errors. If the QRP is generated from a database, regenerating the report and exporting the underlying records is usually more accurate than extracting text from a rendered page.

If the file came from spreadsheet software

Do not assume that a QRP file is a Quattro Pro workbook. Current and commonly documented Quattro Pro formats use extensions such as .qpw and older .wb variants, while QRP is principally associated with QuickReport. If the sender confirms that the file came from a legacy spreadsheet or another application, use that original program or a converter that explicitly identifies the format.

When a compatible spreadsheet program opens the file, export the required sheet or range through File → Save As or File → Export as tab-delimited text or CSV. Check formulas, displayed values, leading zeros, dates, multiple worksheets, hidden content, and character encoding after export. LibreOffice Calc can open some legacy spreadsheet formats, but it does not guarantee support for every file using the QRP extension.

Online conversion options

Check the current input-format lists of reputable services such as Zamzar or Convertio before uploading. Use an online service only when it explicitly identifies .qrp as the supported input and offers TXT or CSV output; a service that merely accepts any extension may return an error or corrupt data.

Upload a non-confidential copy and inspect the downloaded text. Do not submit financial records, personal information, source code, or proprietary reports to a third-party converter. Online services generally cannot determine which application-specific format a QRP file contains.

Quality and compatibility limitations

Conversion is lossy: TXT cannot retain report styling, page breaks, charts, formulas, images, macros, print settings, or the original layout. A report containing multiple sections or pages may need manual cleanup, and columns can shift when fields contain tabs, commas, or embedded line breaks.

Keep the original QRP file and record the encoding and delimiter used for the TXT output. If the receiving system supports it, prefer UTF-8 CSV or tab-separated text for structured data; use plain TXT when the destination requires unstructured text.

Simply put, it is impossible to convert QRP to TXT directly.
Thus, there is no so-called qrp to txt converter or a free online .qrp to .txt conversion tool.
