Contacts saved in Mozilla Thunderbird (.mab) can be exported to several formats, including the standard CSV format (.csv) which is accepted in every personal information manager and email clients. You can access this function when you open your address book in Thunderbird and more or less is the only reliable way how to actually achieve direct mab to csv conversion.
