038 and 002 files are not standard file formats but rather file split parts created by file splitting utilities. When a large file is divided into smaller segments for easier transfer or storage, each part is given a sequential extension such as .001, .002, .003, and so on. The .038 and .002 files represent the 38th and 2nd parts of such a split archive, respectively.

Purpose of converting 038 to 002

Technically, converting a .038 file to a .002 file is not a standard conversion. Both are simply segments of a larger file. If you have a .038 file and want to rename it to .002, it may be because you are missing the .002 part and are attempting to reconstruct the sequence. However, this will not restore the original data unless the content matches the expected segment.

Important notes

• Renaming a .038 file to .002 will not make it a valid .002 part unless it is actually the second segment of the original split file.
